11-day Journey to the Emerald Isle
Day One Flight Charlotte to Dublin.
Day Two: Welcome to the Emerald Isle. We meet our Irish driver/guide and take a short drive where you will enjoy your first full Irish breakfast, in a 200-year-old family owned restaurant/Inn. We continue to Newgrange, a Unesco World Heritage Site, best known Irish passage tomb and dates to c.3,200BC. As we make our way back to Dublin, we stop at the coastal fishing village of Howth, where we take a cliff walk with stunning views. Perhaps you will enjoy your first authentic Fish and Chips for lunch, with fish fresh from the waters of Howth. We make our way to our Dublin hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day Three: This morning we begin with the number one tourist attraction in Dublin: The Guinness Factory. A self-guided tour will take you throughout the history of this famous institution, ultimately to the top of the factory with a 360º view of Dublin, and your opportunity to enjoy a pint. After a panoramic tour of Dublin, we visit Trinity College for a tour that includes the Book of Kells and the College Library. For the remainder of the day, you are free to explore, perhaps spending time on Grafton Street. Dinner this evening, enjoy on your own as your explore some of the fine restaurants in the area.
Day Four: As we depart Dublin, we travel through the region of the Wicklow Mountains, and visit Glendalough located within a glacial valley in County Wicklow, Ireland, renowned for an Early Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, We continue to Waterford. As we tour the Waterford Factory, witness artisans at work, crafting the famous crystal. Continue to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day Five: Today a classic visit to the Blarney Castle, and your opportunity to kiss the Blarney Stone. Legend says kissing the stone will give you the gift of gab. We arrive at our hotel for dnner and overnight Cork.
Day Six: Travel through the beautiful Southwest of Ireland, to the Dingle Peninsula for a breathtaking tour of the Wild Atlantic West. Continue to Tralee where we are treated to a luxurious night and dinner at Ballyseede Castle.
Day Seven: Today travel to Cliffs of Moher, across the Burren and into Galway, for dinner and overnight.
Day Eight: This morning, we venture into the beautiful Connemara region, with stunning views of granite hills, peat bogs and glistening lakes. We visit Kylemore Abbey, operated by Irish Benedictine Nuns. We return via The Quiet Man [Cong], to Galway for dinner and overnight.
Day Nine: A full day excursion to the Aran Island of Inishmore the largest of the Aran Islands. Climb to Dún Aonghusa. One of the most famous and most important prehistoric sites in Europe, this semi circular stone fort sits dramatically on top of a 100 meter drop into the sea. We return to Galway, where you are free to enjoy dinner on your own, and discover many of the pubs with live Trad music.
Day Ten: As we depart the West Coast of Ireland, we board our train to Dublin, with time for last minute shopping, and visits. This evening, we have dinner in the oldest pub in Dublin, The Brazen Head.
Day Eleven: Bid farewell as you board your transatlantic flight home, filled with memories of your time in The Republic of Ireland.
